Course Description

Originally open heathland, Old Fold Manor has many tree-lined fairways that make the wind direction unpredictable. It also retains the undulations and unpredictability of bounce so typical of Harry Colt designs, which bring the charm and challenge of seaside links to inland courses.

I was invited by the General Manager to play and complete a review for some exposure of this tucked away course. I had known about it but never played as it is near to the Shire in Barnet.

The summer conditions made for an enjoyable round although the fairways were very dry. The focus by green staff was clearly to look after the greens and boy were they nice. Lovely slick greens with tricky undulations made scoring very difficult if not in the right section of the green. Having never played this course I rarely found myself in the right part of the green.

Practice facilities include a large multi bay driving range and putting green.

I would expect to pay between £30-50 as a visitor so still decent value for money for this tricky well designed course.

There is a lovely on course 1/2 way hut overlooking the 9th green and 10th hole where we stopped for a well deserved beverage on the hot day.

I understand that the course is playable year round and would definitely come back in the winter to test it out when other courses are struggling with weather.
