I played Pinner Hill after work on twilight on a nice summers evening. This round followed the Buckinghamshire so a very tough act to follow but these reviews cater for all levels of golfer and different budgets.

A par 71 a rolling parkland that go’s up and down the hills of Pinner through mature woods. There is no external noise and you will feel a million miles from suburbia. You can remind yourself where you are from the many views, you can see right the way across London from the 7th green.

It’s a tough test for any golfer with with some very long par 4’s, but with some shortish par 5’s you can get a good score going if on your game.

There is not much in the way of practice facilities a small putting green, chipping area and warm up nets. There is a small space where lessons take place between 10th and 18th hole. There is the advantage of a top class renowned club maker on site able to sort your club repairs, custom fit and generally all things golf @custom_golf_stix.

The clubhouse is vibrant manned by friendly staff and there appears to be a great social scene at PH with many member having a socially distanced drink after their rounds on the terrace. Many saw my birdie attempt on 9 track the hole but come up few inches short. This was primarily because the greens appeared to be very wet and saturated despite it being summer. It did make them receptive but putting was slow and bumpy as it appears they haven’t been able to cut them after the rain some 4/5 days ago. That said some of the greens did need something to slow them down, take the 11th green, pin in the middle left, it would take some shot to get near it, all my group 3 putted as was near impossible to hold the green when right of the hole.

The course is open to visitor green fees for £30 midweek and £45 at weekends however there are usually promotions available to enable a cheaper round.

A great course design that has barely changed from 1927 I will definitely visit again and hope the greens aren’t as wet next time.
