Course Description
The West Course at the historic and private Wenworth Club is best known for annually hosting the BMW PGA Championship on the DP (European) Tour that brings out many of the top names in the world (Rory McIlroy often competes). The club is also hope to two other full 18 hole courses (East, and Edinburgh) and a 9 hole par 3 executive course but it is the West Course that is the flagship. The Par 72 course was designed by Harry Colt and opened in 1926 (Ernie Els redesigned the course between 2005 and 2017) and has also played host to a Ryder Cup (1953) and used to host the World Match Play Championship until 2007. For those lucky enough to play the course, it is a fine challenge with Surrey's trademark heather in abudance and greens kept in immaculate condition. Unlike the other well-known courses in the area, visitors will find it unusual that houses flank many of the holes.
